Tanaan on ollut sateinen paiva, joten seinanmaalaus siirtyi huomiselle. Eilen pesimme ja hioimme Alin ja Baran avustuksella seinan koululla. Yolla myrskysi niin, etta kylla ruokoseinat tutisivat liitoksissaan. Kavimme taas Dakarissa ja jouduimmekin oikein turistikohteluun.. eli ei meinattu oikein paasta kauppiaista eroon ja yksi tyyppi leikkasi multa kunnon palasen tukkaa!! Antoi sitten kylla helmet vastalahjaksi kun raivosin siina. Loppu hyvin kaikki hyvin, kuten eilenkin, kun olin vahalla joutua merihataan. Vaikka yritin olla varovainen, yhtakkia aallot olivat heittaneet minut liian kauas rannasta, eika jalat yltaneet enaa pohjaan ja virta kuljetti vaan kauemmas. Jonkun miehen pienella avituksella sitten pyristelin takaisin rantaan. Eli jannitysta ei puutu.
Kokeilkaapa muuten itse lahtea vaikka tanne Dakariin yhdella vaatekerralla ja pienella repullisella kasimatkatavaraa kahdeksi kuukaudeksi. Kasvattaa luonnetta. No, onneksi en sentaan tullut yksin, eli njoko bokk = ole hyva, me jaamme sen.
Takseihin on maalattu kiitokset Jumalalle, Alhamdoulillahi.

Elaimia kay saaliksi; likaisia kissoja kuljeksii katoilla, koirat maleksivat kaduilla ja vuohet (joille syotetaan pahvia!) on kiinnitetty lyhyeen liekaan talojen eteen tai suljettu pieniin hakkeihin. Paksusti taalla voivat linnut (paitsi kanat, joita pyorii kasoittain ihmisten jaloissa torilla), karpaset ja etenkin torakat, joita saa valilla hatistella niskasta tai yolla jaloista.. Mita saisi olla tuliaisiksi?
Projektiin liittyen saimme hienosti opetettua silkkipainotekniikkaa, kun Sidibe oli saanut tilauksen Youssou N'Dourilta (niin ainakin sanoi) tehda yhdessa yossa piratismin vastaisia printtipaitoja. Siina suitsait nakuteltiin serigrafiaraami ja homma eteni hienosti. Oisin taalla tuntuu olevan enemman elamaa nyt ramadanin aikana. Eipa nama ihmiset nayta nukkuvan koskaan, ehka aamulla pari tuntia. Ovatkin jo aika vasyksissa.
Suñu Kërin modeemi on rikki, tanaan piti tulla uusi, mutta saa nahda milloin saadaan yhteys kuntoon. Huomenna, huomenna, huomenna... Kohta sita ollaan oltu taalla jo puolet reissusta. Piakkoin ajattelimme lahtea vahan Dakarin ulkopuolelle seikkailemaan.
Voikaa hyvin ja kirjotelkaa jotain, me emme taalla tieda muun maailman menosta yhtaan mitaan. Iholle on tullut jotain varia, mut se voi olla saunassa irtoavaa materiaalia.. huoh..

Njoko bok, we share it.
Today it´s been raining, so we´ll start the wall painting project tomorrow. Yesterday we grinded and washed the wall at the school with the help of Bara and Ali. In the night there was again such storm that the reed walls were suffering big time. We went to Dakar again, and this time got a real tourist welcoming... we had a hard time getting rid of some salesmen and one guy suddenly cut a piece of my hair off!! After me rageing there for a while at him he gave me a necklace. Well, everything ended well, even yesterday, when I went through some exciting moments at the beach. Even when I tried to be careful, I suddenly noticed that the waves had thrown me too far from the beach. I couldn´t reach the ground anymore and the stream was taking me even further to the sea. With a helping hand of some man I was able to flounder back. So it doesn´t really get boring here.
You should all try coming to stay for two months Dakar with one outfit and a small bag of hand luggage. Makes you stronger :D Well, it´s a good thing I´m not alone, so njoko bokk, we share it.
The taxi rides have been so exotic around here, that my own good old Fiat must seem like a nice car back home. The cars often have no mirrors, the doors don´t open, the windshield is badly broken, there´s no smooth place in the whole car and the whole vehicle seems to stay in one piece with tape. And the Italian traffic we saw last summer was kids playing compared to this.
Many animals are in bad shape, there are dirty cats hanging around on the roofs, the dogs are roaming in the streets and goats are hooked with short ropes in front of the houses or locked in small cages. And they are fed with cardboard...! If you´d have choose to live as an animal here, the best alternatives would be a bird, a fly, or a cockroach (those you can sometimes try to get off from your neck or you can find them climbing in your feet in the night... any wishes concernig the souvenirs?)
What comes to the project, we managed to teach the serigraphy technique really well. Youssu N'Dour had ordered a pile of t-shirts with anti-piracy prints from Sidibe, and he was supposed to have it done in one night. So we built a serigraphy frame and the job proceeded really well. We did work really late, but now especially during the ramadan it seems that there is more life in the night than in the day time. I think people don´s sleep much... maybe a few hours in the morning. Well, they seem really tired, no wonder.
The modem in Suñu kër is broken, there was supposed to be a new one today, but we´ll see when we get the connection working again. Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow... Soon we´ve been here half of the trip, so we´ll be heading somewhere out of Dakar one of these days.
Take care and write us something, we have no idea what is happening in the world. There´s some new colour on our skin, maybe it´s the kind of type that gets off in sauna... *sigh*
